Richard had grown up as an only child not having the opportunity to share his adventures or misadventures if you will with a sibling. There was no playing with a brother or sister pretending as Daniel Boone to fight the Indians away from the Fort called Boonesboro. There was no pretending to ride the western range as the Lone Ranger with your faithful sidekick Tonto or Tontolina if it happened to be you sister that you were pretending with! So an only child still uses his imagination even if it is to use his dog as his sidekick. Life still has to be explored and conquered! As children grow into adults there is so much peer pressure and influences whether it be good or bad. Individuals seem to not be able to distinguish the difference between an acquaintance or a true friend. There are so many people who get into situations and need a visit or a kind word or maybe some financial assistance at this low moment in their life and there will be a true friend or family member who will go out of their way and stick by them and do whatever it takes to be supportive of them even though that friend or family member may be a little strapped of time or finances but they will still do whatever it takes. The people that were thought to be friends don’t seem to exist at this time even though you beg and plead with them to no avail. Now when you have pulled yourself out of the valley you want to return to whom you thought were your friends and once again you want to accept what they want to bestow on you as what you and they believe are tokens of their friendship. It takes more than money to be a true friend! Friendship and love of family goes much deeper! It has been said that ” a cow never gets it’s tail too high that it doesn’t need it at fly time”! Think about it, and realize who your real treasure is and search your mind and soul and reflect on who has really been at the Fort protecting you from the valleys and desperations of life. Isn’t it only right that you repay their love for you and share at least a little of yourself?
Also think of this in terms of your relationship with Jesus Christ! Hasn’t He always been there for you even when you slipped into the valley? Spend time with your real friends and family and spend some time with the Ultimate Friend and Family Member your Lord! Why not even visit His House some Sunday?
. . . unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood. -Revelation 1:5 Blood is mentioned 460 times in the Bible. Fourteen times in the New Testament Jesus spoke of His own blood. Why Because by the shedding of His blood, He accomplished the possibility of our salvation. He paid the penalty for our sin and redeemed us. The penalty for our sin and rebellion is death; Jesus stepped out and said, “I’ll take that death.” He voluntarily laid down His life and took the penalty we deserve. That’s what the cross is all about. The blood of Jesus Christ not only redeems us, it justifies us. Being justified means more than being forgiven. I can say, “I forgive you,” but I can’t justify you. But God not only forgives the past, He clothes you in righteousness as though you had never committed a sin. Yet it cost the blood of His Son on the cross. Billy Graham
