Weeds In The Grass

As you walk in a mall for instance and notice how a lot of people spread out as they walk thus taking up the whole aisle with their baby strollers etc; they slow down and then eventually stop. They don’t care if you are trying to get by or not. It’s just them in the world! Instances like this are the things that can discourage you and put a frown on your face. But then you finally get past them and their rudeness and you then are aware that they have put a frown on your face. Then you walk further and then eventually notice the Lord has and will provide a rainbow and some pretty flowers for you because eventually you do run into some nice people along those paths whether they be in the mall, the grocery store, the restaurant, etc; these are the people who look at you and just simply offer a warm smile for no reason. Let’s all be one of those people not realizing that we are being one of those simple blessings that God provides such as a rainbow or a flower, or a kind word that really can mean a lot to someone having a bad day or who may be going through a turmoil in their life. A yard full of grass can get a lot of weeds sometimes but with the proper care and nourishing and the removal of theĀ  weeds it can become lush and green and beautiful. It does not always remain dry for the rain does eventually come. Isn’t that the way life can be? The world around us can be a large lawn of grass with a lot of weeds and can become quite dry and under nourished sometimes but God does always send the rain and can make our lives green and beautiful with an occasional rainbow or a few beautiful flowers in our lives such as smiling, caring, people! Let us be one of those flowers or rainbows for someone!

Thought for the morning of Thu June 28, 2012 (Devotional)

Verse “Looking unto Jesus.” – heb 12:2 Thought It is ever the Holy Spirit’s work to turn our eyes away from self to Jesus; but Satan’s work is just the opposite of this, for he is constantly trying to make us regard ourselves instead of Christ. He insinuates, “Your sins are too great for pardon; you have no faith; you do not repent enough; you will never be able to continue to the end; you have not the joy of his children; you have such a wavering hold of Jesus.” All these are thoughts about self, and we shall never find comfort or assurance by looking within. But the Holy Spirit turns our eyes entirely away from self: he tells us that we are nothing, but that “Christ is all in all.” Remember, therefore, it is not thy hold of Christ that saves thee-it is Christ; it is not thy joy in Christ that saves thee-it is Christ; it is not even faith in Christ, though that be the instrument-it is Christ’s blood and merits; therefore, look not so much to thy hand with which thou art grasping Christ, as to Christ; look not to thy hope, but to Jesus, the source of thy hope; look not to thy faith, but to Jesus, the author and finisher of thy faith. We shall never find happiness by looking at our prayers, our doings, or our feelings; it is what Jesus is, not what we are, that gives rest to the soul. If we would at once overcome Satan and have peace with God, it must be by “looking unto Jesus.” Keep thine eye simply on him; let his death, his sufferings, his merits, his glories, his intercession, be fresh upon thy mind; when thou wakest in the morning look to him; when thou liest down at night look to him. Oh! let not thy hopes or fears come between thee and Jesus; follow hard after him, and he will never fail thee. “My hope is built on nothing less Than Jesus’ blood and righteousness: I dare not trust the sweetest frame, But wholly lean on Jesus’ name.” Charles Spurgeon

2 Chronicles 33:12 (Devotional)

And when he was in affliction, he besought the Lord his God, and humbled himself . . . -2 Chronicles 33:12 Why do Christians suffer Rest assured that there is a reason for Christian people being afflicted. One reason why God’s people suffer, according to the Bible, is that it is a disciplinary, chastening, and molding process. From the Scriptures we learn that the chastening of affliction is a step in the process of our full and complete development. Affliction can also be a means of refining and of purification. Many a life has come forth from the furnace of affliction more beautiful and more useful than before. Billy Graham
